Overview

This guidebook focuses on towers and utility poles used to deploy private and commercial wireless services. It begins by briefly defining how “tower” is defined in the context of our report. Next are factors that must be considered when finding a location and building a tower. Issues like land use, fencing, grounding, buildings needed on site, and access to those buildings are reviewed. Regulatory approvals for free standing and guyed tower construction are required and should be understood before any significant planning proceeds. The recommendations in this guidebook are those of its authors, based upon their real-world experience. The guidebook concludes with a list of reference documents that are cited throughout the text.
